The Claiming of the Children is part I (a novelette) in The Veil of Death series; a story of the paranormal and ghostly kind with a subtle hint of alien species known as 'the immortals'. Hera (an Immortal) is by nature, a creature of jealousy - her cosmic life-force is a lethal concoction of toxic, acidic, venomous energies and to supplement her dietary cravings, she feasts on the disregarded emotional energies sourced from the human body. It was whilst feasting on a group of human beings that she inadvertently accessed a Universal knowledge hidden deep within their psyche. It revealed a sin, mankind had committed, in the time when ancient magic ruled their planet. Who so dared to free such a knowledge would reign supreme over all other creatures and so, without further ado, Hera plotted a scheme, wrapped her intentions within a party and when her guests had received their invitations, she soared down to Earth, shape-shifted into a human being and waited for their arrival.
