James and Johanna (Hannah) Cronin had ten children: one who was born in Ireland and died as an infant; four were born in Groton, Massachusetts; two were born in nearby Harvard, Massachusetts both of whom died as infants and two children whom were born in Maple Grove, Wisconsin. James Cronin was a farmer and the surviving children would help him on the farm. Johanna (Hannah) Cronin did the household chores and cared for the children. Maple Grove during the 1850s was still considered a frontier town and the Cronin's were one of its early settlers. These are the stories and biographies of the children of Irish immigrants. It is to their memories that this work is lovingly dedicated.
