This paper examined the acquisition and application of technology in the conduct of elections in Nigeria. It further analysed the challenges and problems arising from this technological innovation and a way out. The study employed both primary and secondary sources to elicit data from respondents which include the electoral officers, the electorates and party leaders who were randomly selected. The data garnered were analysed using the descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings revealed that the acquisition and use of technological instrument can enhance election result credibility and popular acceptance. For example, 96.3% of respondents from Oyo, Ekiti and Osun States of INEC were of the view that modern technology contributes to the credibility of election results. The paper concluded that technology is a major device, capable of assisting the commission to achieve its vision and mission. However, these technologies are not without their numerous difficulties in the process of acquisition and deployment.
