Disputes involving the federations are settled primarily through the resolution mechanisms they have put in place. Given their autonomy and self-regulation, football federations have become pseudo-states. (They have a legislative, judicial and executive body similar to the organisation within states. They are so powerful that they generally impose their legislation on the States of which they are the emanation. On this subject, some scholars speak of : "They have always succeeded in avoiding the confrontation between their standards and those of the State, which allows them to exclude the State judge from the resolution of their disputes. However, with the increasingly professional, commercial, media and economic development of football, the resolution of disputes involving football associations can no longer remain the preserve of their self-regulatory system.
