Professor Peter A. McCullough, MD, MPH, Dr. McCullough is a consultant cardiologist and Vice Chair of Medicine at Baylor University Medical Center, in Dallas TX USA. He is an internationally recognized authority on the role of chronic kidney disease in cardiometabolic risk state with over 1000. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Cardiorenal Medicine and Reviews in Cardiovascular Medicine. In 2013, he was honored with the International Vicenza Award for Critical Care Nephrology for his outstanding contribution and dedication to the emerging problem of cardiorenal syndromes.
Professor Claudio Ronco is full professor of medicine at the University of Padova. He was Director of the Renal Laboratory at the Renal Research Institute and Professor of Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Beth Israel Medical Centre of New York from 1999 - 2001. To date he has been the Director of Department of Nephrology at St. Bortolo Hospital, Vicenza, Italy. He has co-authored 1290 papers, 145 book chapters and 85 books, and he has delivered more than 960 lectures at international meetings and universities. He has a H-Index of 116. He is a council member of several scientific societies and editor emeritus of the International Journal of Artificial Organs. He is also Editor-in-Chief of Blood Purification, Cardiorenal Medicine and Contributions to Nephrology. He is the pioneer of the new definition/classification of Cardiorenal syndromes. Professor Ronco has received numerous honours and awards including, in 2004, the lifetime achievement award and honorary membership in the Spanish Society of Nephrology, the National Kidney Foundation International Medal of Excellence and in 2009, the ISN Bywaters Award for Acute Renal Failure, the ERA-EDTA clinical carreer Award.
This textbook provides a practical and board-driven resource to describe and define the emerging field of cardiorenal medicine. Covering all aspects of the topic with depth and relevance, this groundbreaking reference brings together experts at the nexus between cardiovascular and renal medicine to provide an exception reference to educate in this critical area of modern medicine. It describes how the heart and kidneys are inextricably linked via hemodynamic, neural, hormonal and cellular signaling systems and, concentrating on disease-based coverage, goes on to review emerging concepts in epidemiology, pathogenesis, screening, diagnosis and the management of cardiorenal syndromes, all extensively illustrated and containing features to support scholarship in the field.
Textbook of Cardiorenal Medicine provides consistent chapter organization, clear design and engaging text to define the diagnosis, treatment, intervention and surgical aspects of the full range of conditions encountered within this area of medicine. It is therefore an essential resource to all involved in the management of cardiorenal disease.
