On the other hand, we know that other devotions, particularly toward the enemy, leave no place for misery in the human heart. When the humans are confronted by inevitable setbacks or tragedies, it is time to appeal to their Pride. Where there is sufficient pride they will see themselves as victims of someone else's greed, cruelty, or stupidity. They will feel personally assaulted by injustice and blame others, even the enemy, for things they did not deserve; that should have been prevented, especially if there really is a god. This kind of misery is often the catalyst for defiance or even revenge. ........While we do in fact want the humans to be miserable and we give them every opportunity, it is also a fact that it is their choice.
