This is a story about a woman. It is a work of fiction. I do not know where the notion that Mary Magdalene was a prostitute came from. The Bible tells us nothing about her life before she met Jesus, and, truly, not that much afterward. All we know for sure is that she had been infested with seven demons, which Jesus cast out of her. There is obviously some truth to the notion that she was a disciple, and that Jesus was very close to her. She was given the honor of being the first one to meet with Him after His glorious resurrection. He could have chosen any of His disciples...but it was to His beloved friend and disciple, Mary Magdalene, that He first showed Himself.
