Dr. Rajinder Ghai is currently working as Executive Engineer at Deptt., of Water Resources, Govt. of Punjab, Chandigarh, India. He obtained his B.Tech. (Civil) from Guru Nanak Dev Engg. College, Ludhiana (GNE). He awarded with State Gold-Medal in his graduation. He obtained his M.E. (Structures) and Ph.D. (Structures) degrees from Thapar Institute of Engg. & Tech. Patiala, Punjab with distinction. His major areas of research interests are; repair, rehabilitation and strengthening of concrete structures, structure analysis, concrete and steel structure design. Before joining the department, he served as assistant professor at GNE and structural engineer at Unitech Ltd., Noida. He also served as Sub-Divisional Engineer for Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board. Hence, he has blended experience of academician as well as industry. He has the vast design experience of earthen dams, bridges, sewerage treatment plants, water distribution system, solar power plants, canal regulators & cross drainage works, multi-storey RCC buildings, steel structures and Pre-Engg. buildings. He has published 11 papers in respected international journals and conferences. Dr. Ghai is actively associated with Institution of Civil Engineers (India) since 2006 and with ACECC (The Asian Civil Engineering Coordinating Council) since 2015. He is reviewer for KSCE (Springer) and Science Domain International journals. He is also associated with Tata Steel, India for good engineering practices awareness campaign.
Professor Emeritus Luh-Maan Chang received his B.S. degree from Department of Civil Engineering, National Cheng-Kung University at Taiwan in 1971. In 1974-77, he worked as a project engineer for Industry Technology Research Institute (ITRI) at Hsing-Chu, the Silicon Valley of Taiwan where he helped design/build the 1st Integrated Circuit Demonstration Plant of Taiwan. After getting his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, he taught in the School of Building Construction, University of Florida at Gainesville from 1983 to 1985. From 1986 to 2009, Dr. Chang taught in the School of Civil Engineering, Purdue University at West Lafayette. After he took early retirement from Purdue, he continued teaching in the Civil Engineering Department of National Taiwan University till 2016. Throughout the years, he has continued to search for new theories or advanced technologies that can be applied to improve construction productivity. The major areas he has been involved with include Artificial Intelligence (AI), Image Processing and Patten Recognition, Nondestructive In-Place Testing, Precast Pre-Stressed Concrete Pavement, and Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) Methods.
Since the early 2000’s when semiconductor manufacturing was scaled down to below 100 nanometer level, Dr. Chang has been trying to bridge civil engineering into the design and construction management of semiconductor fabrication plant (fab.) Because a high-tech fab is prerequisite to high-tech manufacturing, Dr. Chang devoted most of his later efforts to explore sustainable interdisciplinary methods in controlling contamination, and mitigating vibration and EMI. Presently, Dr. Chang is an adjunct professor and a researcher in the Climate Change and Sustainability Research Center of National Taiwan University. He has authored and co-authored over 250 publications, delivered 206 invited lectures worldwide, completed 20 PhD students and 75 MS students, and ever obtained 22 technical patents.Dr. R. Sharma is currently an assistant professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology Punjab. He obtained his B.E. (Civil) from RIMT Institute of Engineering and Technology, Punjab, and M.E (structural) and Ph.D. from the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Punjab. His major area of research interest includes repair, rehabilitation, retrofitting of structures, and use of waste material for sustainable repair product development. He has published 22 papers in a peer-reviewed journal, national and international conference. He is a reviewer of many prestigious engineering journals such as Journal of material in civil engineering (ASCE), Construction and building materials (Elsevier), Engineering structures (Elsevier), Advances in concrete construction (Techno Press), and structural materials (Wiley).
Dr. Anush. K. Chandrappa is currently holding a position of assistant professor at the School of Infrastructure, Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneshwar, India. He obtained his B.E. (Civil) from B M S College of Engineering (Karnataka), and M.Tech and Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India. His major area of research interest includes, sustainable pavement engineering and construction practices, advanced pavement materials characterization, pavement design and evaluation, finite element analysis of pavement, urban climatology and urban heat island effects, Ultraviolet ageing of asphalt, energy synthesis from pavements and material science. He has published more than 50 research articles in peer-reviewed journals, national and international conferences. He is a reviewer of many prestigious engineering journals such as Journal of Testing and Evaluation (ASCE), Journal of material in civil engineering (ASCE), Construction and building materials (Elsevier), Advances in Civil Engineering Materials (ASCE), Journal of Transportation Engineering. Part-B (ASCE), Australian Journal of Civil Engineering (Taylor and Francis), and others.
