To prepare activated carbon from wild sugarcane by chemical activation of ZnCl2 as a major activating agent on the surface characteristics of AC. To estimate the effect of various processing parameters such as impregnation ratio, carbonization temperature and holding time etc. on the surface characteristics, pore volume, surface area, average pore diameter, mesopore volume and micropore volume of AC. To find out the optimum parameters to produce suitable activated carbon using statistical analysis method i.e. Taguchi and ANOVA technique. The suitability of activated carbon samples is inspected for electrochemical applications in aqueous media in three-electrode and two-electrode configurations. The chemical activation is performed with basic ZnCl2 and ethanol, inclusive of variation in impregnation ratio, to find out the best suited sample for the aforesaid purpose. The synthesis process is attained in a wide temperature range and their electrochemical application in aqueous electrolyte in order to achieve better outcome in terms of energy density, power density and cell voltage.
