The present book has as main subject the study of waves, specifically the propagation of waves in an interface by means of the analysis of the refraction of plane waves, carried out with the objective of analyzing the processes of transmission, reflection and refraction of traveling waves in an interface between elastic propagation media with different density, emphasizing the phenomenon of phase inversion by reflection and the conditions for it to occur. For it was necessary to define through a referential theoretical frame the concepts of wave, mechanical wave, traveling wave, undulatory movement, reflection of a traveling wave, refraction and diffraction of circular waves. Waves were classified according to several criteria, as well as the main elements that describe them. It was explained that when a wave changes from one medium to another, it is reflected and depending on the boundary conditions that limit it, this reflection will be inverted or not. It was also studied the law of reflection for plane waves and diffraction in circular waves. Consequently, the superposition principle was explained, which deals with the resulting wave function.
