This study investigates the prevalence of scapular dyskinesia in three grip types-hook grip, double overhand grip, and alternate grip-used during deadlifts by amateur weightlifters aged 18-25. Scapular dyskinesia refers to abnormal scapula movement, often caused by muscle imbalance, which can impair shoulder function. Using tests like the Lateral Scapular Slide Test (LSST) and Scapular Dyskinesis Test (SDT), 93 weightlifters from Pune were examined. Results showed that 24.5% of alternate grip users and 21.1% of double overhand grip users experienced scapular dyskinesia, with no significant difference between grip types. The research highlights the importance of understanding grip variations to prevent dysfunction in weightlifters. It suggests increased awareness and further studies on grip-related scapular dyskinesia. The findings emphasize the importance of proper biomechanics in weightlifting to minimize injuries and improve performance.
