Work stress is recognised world-wide as a major challenge to worker's health and the healthiness of their organisations. Workers who are stressed are also more likely to be unhealthy, poorly motivated, less productive and less safe at work, their organisations are less likely to be successful in a competitive market. Work stress is thought to affect individuals' psychological and physical health as well as organisations' effectiveness, in an adverse manner. This study provides practical advice on how to deal with work stress. It is intended that faculty members in AICTE approved colleges (self - finance) and management will use this study as part of an initiative to educate on work stress management. Discussed are the nature of stress at work, the causes and effects of stress, as well as preventive strategies and management methods. The present studies is relevant in the present scenario because of increasing stress among faculty members in AICTE's approved government un-aided colleges in Haryana. A number of recent studies indicate that teachers are under an increasing amount of stress in relation to a performance of their duties.
