Due to the population growth of cities and the increase in their urban areas, the master plans are being modified over time. Such modifications imply a change in the classification of inhabited areas, thus altering the sound pressure limits established by laws, both municipal, state and / or federal. Thus, energy substations often end up at odds with certain regulations, requiring noise mitigation measures. The work in question shows a standardized methodology for noise measurement in substations, based on the ABNT NBR 10151 standard. In addition, a case study is presented, carried out at Santa Marta Substation, linked to the Companhia Estadual de Energia Eletrica (CEEE-GT), the State Electricity Generation and Transmission Company, in order to test the effectiveness of the developed method. From the measured data, the noise generated by the substation was classified according to the guidelines of the standard already mentioned. Finally, it is expected with the present study, to estimate more reliably which substations are in disagreement with the current regulations and from that to seek better means of mitigating noise disturbances.
