Due to the macroeconomic impact of globalization, the urbanization of Bangladesh is suddenly triggered up. Poorly managed urbanization is having greater social and environmental costs, most starkly evident as an increase in urban poverty. Additionally, spatial distribution of urban poverty is creating a tremendous impact on the land use of the cities through influencing the economic structure. Consequently, planning and managing cities have become almost impossible. Therefore, there is a great scope of having improved policy & management knowledge to contribute in the development process of the country. Khulna is the third largest metropolitan city of Bangladesh. This city is also facing tremendous pressure of migration. This book is focused on two dimensions of urban poverty. Firstly, the mobility pattern of the urban poor with respect to the spatial variation of socioeconomic conditions. Secondly, impact of spatial concentration of urban poverty on the generalized landuse pattern of Khulna city. The findings of this book should be able to provide in-depth understanding about the overall spatial dimension of urban poverty.
