Dr. Larry Rainey is a retired US Air Force space research and development officer. He has over 20 years of experience in the area of space systems engineering. His expertise in the space arena spans working in launch operations, on orbit operations, space research and development, helping to standup the original Space Warfare Center at Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado, and conducting space systems architecture analysis for The Aerospace Corporation using the following space modeling and simulation tools: Systems Tool Kit (STK), System Effectiveness Analysis Simulation (SEAS), Satellite Orbit Analysis Program (SOAP), Extended Air Defense Simulation (EADSIM) and Synthetic Theater Operations Research Model (STORM).

He has taught spacecraft design at the Air Force Institute of Technology and space modeling and simulation at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. He worked for the Missile Defense Agency’s Ballistic Missile Defense System in the Modeling and Simulation Directorate. He has published many articles on systems architecting and applications of cybernetic principles. In addition, he has published six engineering textbooks. He has also consulted with a company supporting Space Systems Command on architecture development.
