The 3D devices (laser scanners, stereo photogrammetry, ...) can provide comprehensive data on external anatomical parts of the human face, in a less invasive way for the patient than the CT scan. Those tools are currently being tested but, despite of the strong interest in the medical field, an uniquely shared procedures and protocols don't exist. The absence of those methods for the management of three-dimensional information (virtual models) require to identify the protocols necessaries for the use of those instruments in the three-dimensional medical field. Secondly the research has been devoted to the study of methods for management, analysis and use of the three- dimensional models acquired in order to make them operational in the medical context, both for diagnostic reasons and for educational purposes of the same compartment.
