Socio-scientific controversies can be used, within an innovative teaching perspective, as a strategy for addressing controversial topics in science classrooms, with the potential to promote critical thinking and decision-making among students. In this regard, it should be noted that the context of the controversy addressed in this research-concerning genetically modified foods (GMOs)-is a topic that is currently overdiscussed and the subject of heated debate. This work will be published in four volumes. In this first book, a fictional multinational company that researches and develops genetically modified varieties of soybeans, corn and cotton, the Agribusiness and Biotechnology Company (AGROBIO), wants to establish itself in the state of Pará with one of its GM crop cultivation units. To this end, it proposes to lease land from a family, which, in the multinational's assessment, is an ideal location for growing transgenic açaí. Thus, controversy arises because the company's offer is received very differently by the different groups involved. Check out the results!
