Social Work is characterized by responding to emerging needs of the profession, in this sense, the development of professional competencies of intervention must be in accordance with the contextual requirements. This work describes the intervention of the social worker in social programs inside and outside of social and governmental organizations, specifying the specific competencies and the methodology to be followed to generate welfare to society, in this understanding the profession requires to innovate relevant strategies that provide an added value to the performance of professionals, from the intervention of Social Work in social programs that strengthen the actions from a Community and Institutional Social Work.
