This reference book encompasses from the basics to advances related to aeration and Parshall flumes. It caters the need of B- Tech, M Tech and PhD students. It equally supports the field engineers, and helps industry people in understanding aeration process at Parshall flumes in total perspective. Small Parshall flumes are commonly used in storm water, irrigation and sewerage systems for measuring the flow rate. The dissolved oxygen (DO) is one of the primary variables and the basic indicator to judge the quality of water. Hydraulic structures like spillways, weirs, cascades are classical examples where aeration takes due to drop and fall but in situation of low slope or flat channel, Parshall flume is used to enhance the aeration. Aeration is the process through which dissolved oxygen (D.O.) is entrapped into the water which is necessary for survival of aquatic-life in the water bodies. The tests on the models were carried out for atleast five different discharges and subsequently aeration efficiency were calculated. Further, mathematical modelling was also invoked to compute and compare the results from the observed aeration efficiency at the small Parshall flumes.
