Plastic is a non-biodegradable material which can harm environment in numerous ways. The disposing of any kind of plastic material leads to environmental pollution. Extensive research is been carried out for the efficient conversion of plastics into fuels such as gasoline, kerosene etc. Pyrolysis of plastics is one of the most efficient techniques to convert higher hydrocarbons into smaller hydrocarbons at very high temperature nearly 500 C at an inert atmosphere. The objective of this study is to understand the potential of pyrolysis for fuel production by using polyethylene as a feedstock and to study the effect of temperature, residence time. To simulate the process of pyrolysis by using DWSIM software. The results showed a maximum yield of 60.14% liquid fuel and 39.86% vapor. From the phase properties, it was observed that the density of the liquid fuel is close to the density of gasoline. The simulation of pyrolysis in DWSIM has proven to be a valuable tool for understanding the behavior of the process and optimizing its efficiency.
