This book explores the systematic strategies used by §typically developing children to facilitate social §interaction for their sibling with an autism §spectrum disorder (ASD). Using a qualitative §paradigm, two sibling dyads are examined in depth §during play. This extensive examination combines §video analysis, ethnographic interviews, participant §observations, artifact analysis, and video §lamination to fully explore individual strategies §used by the typically developing children. Findings §demonstrate numerous ways siblings use overlapping §strategies tailored to the unique needs of the child §with ASD. This work provides evidence that siblings §can be successful play partners for children with §ASD and should be considered as potential §participants in clinical settings.Suggestions for §practitioners who wish to increase family-centered §practice are also included.
