Deterrents, on the other hand are elements or factors that prevented self-care behavior from occurring. Diabetic Self as deterrent, customer displeasure, stress and fiscal constraints were deterrents to self-care behavior. Effective self-care behaviors will be seen if enablers dominate, thus good outcomes and successful management of disease may be expected. Minimizing the effects of the deterrents, while maximizing and enhancing the aspect of enablers will undeniably foster effective self-care behavior among people with Type II Diabetes highlighting the crucial role of the nurse in restoring balance using the nursing process.
