Aaron and Jack are apolitical until insurance fraud results in the early death of Aaron's mother, Jack's wife. Aaron is a computer scientist that specializes in security issues, and he knows how to circumvent computer security when he needs to. Jack is a retired Navy Seal. In a bid to get some satisfying revenge, they hack into their insurance company's computer and stumble upon an apparent collusion between the insurance company and someone in the United States government. A collusion to commit insurance fraud on a massive scale. They make an attempt to blow the whistle on this fraud, but it fails completely and inadvertently triggers the death of eighteen innocent men. Their attempt also draws unwanted attention to them, and makes it clear that they have become targeted by some very vicious people. Fear drives them to continue their research online. They need to identify their enemies before their enemies identify them. Aaron manages to enter a very sophisticated government computer system and stumbles upon the ultimate shocking document there. A document that explains with incontrovertible high-school level physics that the attacks of 9/11 were done with explosives, presumably as part of a government PSYOP (psychological operation). Reading this document changes Jack and Aaron's fear into a deep patriotic anger. With little to lose in the attempt, father and son decide to make war on the United States government; and to force it to start working for the People of the United States instead of just the obscenely wealthy. It turns out that We, the People, are not as helpless as our government would like us to believe. Sedition Awakening is fiction, because sometimes fiction is the only way to tell the truth.
