This is the first book to provide a comprehensive examination of state takeovers of school districts. Racial bias is often raised as a possible motivation when high-minority districts are taken over. This book is designed to educate academics, educators, policy makers, students, public schools and the community about the laws in the various states that authorize school district takeovers and the legal implications when race is included in the conversation. Within the framework of case law, we discuss the viability of legal challenges to takeovers. Dr. Oluwole is a professor of education law and an attorney. He has published several scholarly articles and presents at national conferences. Dr. Green is a professor of education law at Penn State s College of Education and Dickinson School of Law. He is the co-author of Charter School Law: Establishing New Legal Relationships.
