It deals with battling the enemy. The shield bearer that went before Goliath carrying the shield, had nothing to do with the fight he was simply tagging along just to see David get beat. Isn't it funny how someone else just comes along while you are facing a big problem and they just stand there looking to see if you are going to be defeated by this problem. Like the shield bearer they really don't have anything to do with the fight, they're just waiting to see if you are going to give up but if you can't fight the battle, if you are afraid then move out of the way and go get you "a David" someone who is truly anointed. The quoted "hit him with the Sling Shot" message, provides readers with a powerful word of encouragement. The writer continues and says "if you've used prayer & fasting to get you through your tribulations in the past, hit him with that, use those stones that you've been using to fight the enemy don't try to use another man's armor to fight your battles just hit him with the slingshot."
