Saving has been a widely studied concept, both from a traditional approach and from behavioral economics in order to understand the individual's decision process. This research aims to understand the demographic, socioeconomic and educational factors that affect the probability of saving in Ecuadorian households in 2017. In the first part, the theoretical foundations of savings are presented, as well as an empirical review of research related to the determinants of savings. The second part includes a diagnosis of the Ecuadorian context, considering characteristics of the environment and homes. In the third part, the construction of an econometric logistic regression model is presented, which resulted in the magnitude and relationship of the main variables that determine savings in Ecuadorian households. Finally, the fourth part provides some conclusions from the study carried out.
