This book did not come about by chance. Quite the contrary. It is the result of a long process of reflection by the author on the daily lives of families, especially same-sex families. The book Same-Sex Family Relationships: Discussing the Concept of Family emerged as a dialectical synthesis of thinking about family arrangements based on the conceptions of social and historical agents who construct and reconstruct the concept of family amid the contradictions that surround the family context. Epistemologically and methodologically, it is based on qualitative field research carried out as a partial requirement for obtaining a Master's degree in Applied Social Sciences - UEPG. In this scenario, the book presents the same-sex family as yet another form of family relationship present in society. The construction of the family category expresses a dynamic reality that emanates from the process of contradictions intrinsic to human relationships. Prof. Dr. Edina Schimanski.
