He is also an Extraordinary Professor at the University of the Western Cape, South Africa,and a research associate of the Human Sciences Research Council of South Africa. Qing Gu is Professor of Education at the University of Nottingham, UK. She is Vice Chair of the British Association for International and Comparative Education.
