Surface morphology and physicochemical properties induced to capillary uptake of liquids. Topography shows the surface characteristics which induced to roughness. Roughness influences the wettability and cleanability. Plasma modification (Oxygen and Ammonia) tends to play an important role in wettability of PET fabric. Wetting phenomena i.e. spreading rate, absorption rate and static contact angles are observed to indicate the intensity of hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity, before and after modification. Thermofixing modify the amplitude and porosity of yarn and that leads to change in surface topography e.g. roughness, weaviness, relaxation, shrinkage, pilling factor etc., which is observed very clearly. Different heat-set PET fabric show different characters after applying Plasma and Soil Release Polymer (SRP) in wetting behavior and cleanability, were observed and determined. In this thesis, topography of origin and different thermofixed PET fabric, before and after SRP was studied. Correlation of wettability, different topography and cleanability were revealed and discussed.
