"Howzit going Dad?" "I am a Ronin." "What?" "Wave man. A masterless samurai." An artist sits contemplating life in his now empty nest after a life of service first to his wife, then to his daughter. Finding nothing to live for beyond his art, his self image as a samuraI charging across the landscape to protect his family is gone. Alone with his own thoughts and no one to serve he has become a Ronin, still struggling for perfection but with no real purpose. The characters in this book explore the lives of Pualani and her family which began in Pualani and the 3 Mano and continued in Blalas in the Mano's Hale and Da Blalas. Each book explored a different aspect of storytelling. In the first books, which were directed at younger readers, I explored how vocabulary is developed. This story is told through emotional content and how memory works. I dropped the reference to Pualani and Da Blalas in the title because the story deals with visceral loss. All these things happened to someone. Just not all at once. And not like its written. This book explores love, pain and how we remember the ones who have passed or are far away.
