Robert Crumb begann seine Karriere in den späten 1960er Jahren mit Snatch, Zap und anderen Underground-Comics. Seine Charaktere Fritz the Cat, Mr. Natural und The Snoid wurden bald zu Ikonen, aber erst die Enthüllung seiner sexuellen Fantasien mit üppigen, starkschenkeligen Frauen machte sein Werk weltbekannt. Um ihn dreht sich auch der preisgekrönte Dokumentarfilm Crumb (1994). Heute lebt er mit seiner Frau, der Künstlerin Aline Kominsky-Crumb, in Südfrankreich.

Dian Hanson ist Herausgeberin und Autorin bei TASCHEN und hat bereits über 50 Bücher veröffentlicht. Neben ARNOLD gehören zu ihren jüngsten Titeln The Art of Pin-up, Masterpieces of Fantasy Art und The Fantastic Worlds of Frank Frazetta.
