As India is witnessing change in social, political and economic spheres, the Indian tribes have been studied in the context of changing political and social identity, gender, caste dimensions, development issues. The different initiatives on the part of the government for the development of the disadvantaged tribals has been debated. Naha (Das), SumitraDr. Sumitra Naha (Das) is Asst. Prof in the Dept. of Economics, Siliguri Mahila Mahabidyalaya in West Bengal, India. She earned her Ph.D from Jadavpur University. Her research interests are in Financial Economics, Development Economics, Gender Economics. She has authored three books and published several research articles in journals of repute.
