Dental research is the study of laws, theories and hypotheses through a systematic examination of pertinent facts and their interpretation in the field of dentistry. To ensure a better tomorrow focus should be on overpowering the shortcomings of the past and enlightening ourselves with the current knowledge available to us and for this reason the research methods and its methodology should be applied to the field of prosthodontics to understand how research can be conducted in the right manner with minimal resources and efficient reliable outcomes. The need for good research is to find the best evidence for clinical practice, for specific problems and to address methods in reducing the burden of illness on a larger scale. This book is a compilation of my work on different research methodologies as a translational science, concerned with the transformation of fundamental knowledge into treatments, the study of measures to move specific aspects of knowledge into widespread availability as quickly as possible or measures of the feasibility and utility of treatments, including applicable aspects of well-being, health economics and health disparity.
