Prof. Men Honghua serves as a Distinguished University Professor, Dean of School of Political Sciences & International Relations, President of Tongji Institute for China & World Studies, Tongji University. Prof. Men was Senior Visiting Scholar at Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in 2003, Japan Center for Economic Research from 2006 to 2007, Eisenhower Fellowships in 2011, University of Oxford from 2013 to 2014, and University of Tokyo in 2015. So far, he has published 10 monographs, 49 edited or co-authored books, 4 textbooks, 16 translations. He has published over 150 academic papers in professional journals such as Social Sciences in China.

Prof. XIAO Xi serves as a Distinguished University Professor, Dean of School of International & Public Affairs, Jilin University. Prof. Xiao was Visiting Scholar at Cornell University  from 2006 to 2007, Senior Visiting Scholar at University of Oxford from 2013 to 2014, Senior Visiting Scholar at Waseda University in 2015. So far, she has published 15 monograph, edited or co-authored books. She has published over 70 academic papers in professional journals such as Journal of Political Science, World Economics and Politics, etc.

The aim of this book is threefold: firstly, to provide a comprehensive overview of the undergoing world transformation and its interaction with China; to analyze how China deals with internal and external challenges, why China could still have strategic opportunities and what will and should China do to sustain and reshape its period of strategic opportunity, secondly, to analyze how China deals with fierce strategic competition with the U.S., and how it develops its relations with other countries, especially great powers; to analyze the challenges that the BRI faces and how China reshapes it relations with other developing countries via cooperation on the BRI; thirdly, to provide a vivid picture of world transformation and China’s design of its grand strategy, to investigate the key factors in securing China’s sustainable development and its period of strategic opportunity, and indicates that the key is to develop a global vision and provide new strategic opportunities for the world, and the support comes from a stronger presence in the region and an optimized geopolitical and economic environment.
