O autorze

Peter H. Feist (1928-2015) studierte Kunstgeschichte, Geschichte und Archäologie in Halle, wo er von 1952 bis 1958 als Assistent und Lehrbeauftragter arbeitete und 1958 promovierte. Anschließend war er an der Humboldt-Universität in Berlin tätig, bevor er von 1982 bis 1990 Direktor am Institut für Ästhetik und Kunstwissenschaften der Akademie der Wissenschaften der DDR in Berlin (Ost) war. Feist ist Autor zahlreicher Veröffentlichungen zur Kunstgeschichte und Kunsttheorie, bei TASCHEN erschienen seine Bände Pierre-Auguste Renoir und, als Ko-Autor, Impressionismus.
