O autorze

Michael Bockemühl (1943-2009) studierte Kunstgeschichte, Philosophie und Kirchengeschichte in München und Bochum. Er habilitierte 1984 an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum und war als Privatdozent für Mittlere und Neue Kunstgeschichte tätig, bevor er 1990 den Lehrstuhl für Kunstwissenschaft, Ästhetik und Kunstvermittlung an der Universität Witten/Herdecke erhielt. Bei TASCHEN veröffentlichte er Monografien über Rembrandt (1991) und Turner (1991).
