Ronald Sexton was only five years old when his father retired from coaching. He remembered very little of his dad's life as one of North Carolina's outstanding high school basketball coaches in the 1950s. Years after his father's passing and after attending his father's induction ceremony into Lenoir County's Sports Hall of Fame, Ronald was determined to learn more about his father's legacy as a basketball coach. He traveled from Louisiana to eastern North Carolina over a dozen times for several years interviewing former players and friends of his dad. The result of his research is this book, Red Devil Tales, which is a compilation of many former players' experience and portrait of Amos Sexton as their coach and mentor and the many stories of the great moments they all shared as athletes. Now in their late seventies, these former players still cherish the memories of their years as Kinston Red Devils.
