Amy Hempel, geb. 1951, lebt in New York City und unterrichtet Creative Writing in Harvard. Sie hat mehrere Bände mit Kurzgeschichten veröffentlicht. Ihre Collected Stories gehören zu den Top 10 der New York Times Book of the Year Liste. Ihre Geschichten wurden u.a. in Harper s, GQ, Vanity Fair veröffentlicht und in Anthologien wie The Best American Short Stories and The Norton Anthology of Short Fiction aufgenommen. Sie war Stipendiatin der Guggenheim Foundation und der United Artists Foundation of Arts and Letters. Amy Hempel wurde mit zahlreichen Preisen ausgezeichnet.
