The author has argued and declared the need of Realism for today to establish an independent, personal space allows artist to develop his own understanding of the truth. Xuning Wang not only provided a theory but also shared his experience of how he practiced his theory in painting.

Xuning Wang , Chinese-Australian artist, professor of visual arts at Southwest University PRC, Researcher at Edith Cowan University; has a BA from Tsinghua University PRC, MVA from the Australian National University, and a PhD from ECU Australia. Xuning claims third space' for cultural hybrid experience and works across and between cultures.
