Quercetin has been studied extensively because it brings several health benefits to people including anticancer, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and anti-obesity properties. The aim of this study was to formulate quercetin-loaded PLGA nanoparticles by using single emulsion solvent evaporation technique. Polymeric nanoparticles tend to improve the water solubility and bioavailability of quercetin, thus, enhancing its therapeutic efficacy. This formulation was performed by factorial design to create several sets of formulations. The variables such as particle size, polydispersity index, entrapment efficiency and cumulative drug release after 24 hours were determined as the responses for the formulations. Fourier transform infra-red (FT-IR) spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were employed to characterize quercetin nanoparticles.
