QURANIC APPROACH TO SEX EDUCATION: Sex education is an extremely emotive and controversial subject. Therefore, many people, secular and religious alike, have very decided opinions on what should and should not be included in sex education and at what age such teaching is appropriate. In this perspective, I am pleased to say that these two distinguished Muslim scholars whose work I have met before, have produced a book that helps non-Muslims like me to get a much clearer understanding of Muslim civilization in relation to sex education. I particularly appreciate the way in which the authors have brought together in one place a wealth of Quranic references with respect to gender and sexual relations. I hope this carefully researched study will help to promote an informed and respectful debate on a subject which concerns us all intimately by virtue of our shared humanity. Even where we may disagree, the debate can, at least, be well informed. No doubt, we have, as always, so much to learn from each other.
