The topic of child abuse has become a social concern during past three decades in the both developed and developing countries of the world. Research data on child abuse is inadequate and limited to only few aspects.However a thorough understanding of phenomena is necessary to undertake any welfare measures to overcome the deleterious effect of abuse. The present study provides insight about psycho-social adjustment of institutional children who are the victims of abuse during their their children.Further it provides detailed background information about institutional children, types and causes of abuse. An attempt was also made to study social, emotional, educational adjustments and childrens perception about their parents parenting modes.Such information helps in effective implementation of social policies and programmes that help in the alleviation of conditions responsible for child abuse.
