Hospital management need particular approaches to solve any problem in term of effectiveness and efficiency. From all available approaches, lean is an approach which is considered as the most successful. Lean aims at creating value added and eliminating waste. Lean implementations in hospital found that the solve of problem involve: decreasing length of stay, increase in the number of patients handled, decrease in errors and incidents, decrease in queue time, increase in patients' satisfaction, increase in employees' satisfaction, decrease in overtime-hours, decrease in stock budget and decrease in travelled distance or travelled time of patients and staff. Lean implementation instruments are pretty much. These instruments are created or adopted from available models in production management literatures. Author identify 6 instruments used in lean implementation for problem solving in hospital, those are: VSM, 5S, Just In Time/ Kanban System, Poka Yoke, Standardized Work and Kaizen. This book consists of Problem Solving approaches from Problem Identification, Problem Solving, Using Lean Tools for Problem Solving, Problem Controlling and Lean Hospital Implementation Roadmap.
