The following is a description of the book's content. The present book consists of two parts: Part One and Part Two. Part One is fundamentally theoretical; Part Two, which is a problem solution manual, is practical in nature. Part One begins with Chapter 1, which presents a comprehensive coverage of the principles of elementary mathematics, focusing on the fundamental concepts about percentages, ratios and proportions, simple and compound interests, as well as the properties of direct and indirect proportionalities. Chapter 2 gives additional treatment on elementary geometry, integrated with extended definitions of geometric terms, to build on relevant geometric concepts already acquired in grade 5. Parallel and perpendicular lines are examined; the different kinds of quadrilaterals are discussed, as well as areas of triangle, rectangle, parallelogram, and trapezoid, including concepts on prisms and pyramids. Chapter 3 deals with circular and spherical bodies. In particular, the lengths of circumferences and areas of circles, as well as concepts regarding cylinders and cones are considered from both theoretical and practical standpoints. Part two of the book, the solution manual, contains chapters 4 through 7. Chapters 4, 5, and 6 contain complete solutions and answers (with explanatory notes) to all of the Problems and Exercises included at the end of chapters 1, 2, and 3 in Part one. The solutions embody the methods and examples of dealing with typical problems and exercises with different levels of difficulty contributing to the learning environment as well as promoting the mastering of the materials and concepts presented. Chapter seven is composed of five aptitude tests, which feature typical problems and exercises within the context of the textbooks "Modern Mathematics for Community Elementary Schools (Grade 5) and "Principles of Modern Elementary Mathematics (Grade 6)."
