Jishan He is Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of Central South University and academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering.
During his 60 years of scientific research and teaching, he once served as President of the former Central South University of Technology and Director of Department of Energy and Mining at Chinese Academy of Engineering. Now he is Bureau Member of China Academy of Engineering, Member of the Standing Committee of Engineering Management Department at China Academy of Engineering, Honorary Chairman of Hunan Association for Science and Technology, President of Academicians Sodality of Hunan, and Adviser of Hunan Calligraphers Association.
With long-term efforts in the research of geophysical theory, method, and observation instrument system, Professor He has developed the “dual frequency induced polarization method,” “pseudo-random signal electrical method,” “wide field electromagnetic method,” the “flow field fitting method,” and so on. The theories and instruments developed by him make China become a leader in frequency study and electrical method in the world, which bring him one prize on the National Science Conference, three awards of National Invention Prize, two awards of National Science and Technology Progress Award and 18 provincial and ministerial level awards, the title of National Outstanding Mid-Aged Experts in 1986, the title of National Model Workers on Non-ferrous Metals in 1995, the title of National Advanced Educators in 2000, and the title of National Advanced Workers in 2005. His research achievements have been widely applied in China and abroad. Famous American geophysicist Professor HF Morrison once wrote: “Professor He is recognized world wide for his many accomplishments in exploration geophysics and particular for his outstanding work in induced polarization and controlled source audio magnetotellurics.”
Another concern of Professor He is the management of development of science and engineering disciplines. He did extensive research on the theory and practice of engineering management during the past 20 years and has published monographs and a number of influential articles on engineering management. Thanks to his push in the engineering management on the level of establishment of faculty, forums, and discipline, the postgraduate program of engineering management goes smoothly for the recruitment, construction and development. The Engineering Management Department of CAE presents him the “Special Contribution Award for Engineering Management”. Now, he is engaged in theory system research of engineering management.
