Preterm delivery is an entity that greatly affects the indicators of the Maternal and Infant Program due to the morbimortality generated around it. In order to determine the main risk factors associated with preterm delivery, an observational, retrospective, analytical, case-control study was carried out at the "Manuel Piti Fajardo" Polyclinic in the municipality of Santo Domingo. It was evidenced that preterm delivery is more frequent in women under 19 years of age. As for the socioeconomic situation, a poor level was shown in the patients of the control group. The condition related to chronic conditions before pregnancy that had a significant influence on preterm delivery was arterial hypertension. The main conditions that were significantly related to preterm delivery during pregnancy were gestational hypertension, gestational diabetes, vaginal sepsis and premature rupture of the membrane.
