The evolution of the social and legal position of children and young people has acquired different perspectives throughout history and is constantly changing. After the consecration of the child as a true subject of rights, a new paradigm emerged that substantially changed the content and exercise of parental responsibilities. Obviously, the question of whether there is a right of correction and, if so, what is the boundary between the power-duty to educate and offence against physical integrity, only gained relevance from the moment when the idea of the child as an object of power was broken and the child was seen as an equal and privileged subject. This implies a limitation of the role played by parents and a balancing of the parent-child triangular relationship. This work aims to contribute to the deepening of the legal position of the child in the family, seeking to understand the real and current content of the power-duty to educate.
