This research attempts to provide answers to this question by examining McDonagh's plays, their production and their reception, through a frame provided by some of the ideas and concepts that are to the fore of postmodern theory. The specific play texts considered are The Cripple of Inishmaan and The Lonesome West.

Julie is Artistic Director of The Everyman, Cork, where she is responsible for the programme and artistic strategy, and directs plays. She has worked as an actor, director & freelance theatre producer with numerous Irish arts organisations, companies & artists. She holds a BA in Drama and English, and an MA in Drama from UCC.
