This book contains striking photos plus a narrative by the author from her journal of many desert experiences and observations. Each photo's physical site is identified with its location, or as close as possible. The narration is historically based but interspersed with personal sights, impressions and thoughts in order to bring a current human element to barren topography. The text is paired with a photograph in order to represent the subject it discusses. Occasionally the photo's actual physical site may have been in a different location, as noted beneath each photo. Notes the author wrote during her travels are the basis of the text with some additional research done later. Fresh impressions, observations and happenings were recorded as they occurred rather than from memory. Travel along, seeing through her eyes, camping, traveling and living a bit rough through some of the magnificent southwestern deserts of the the United States.
