The book focuses on policies of environmental inclusion within the development ethos in Malaysia. It examines the environmental pressure brought by developmental goals using water pollution in Peninsular Malaysia as its unit of analysis. It explores the trend and magnitude of development indicators such as urbanization, population and industrial growth in the country and the impact on water resource. The price of developmental goals is always an environmental degradation of natural resources such as water pollution. In the light of this, the book evaluates the various policy measures, actions and mechanisms put forward by the government to overcome the problem of water pollution in Peninsular Malaysia. Interestingly, the work also identifies issues associated with some policy instruments used by the government and administrative constraints likely to hinder the implementation of such policies and/or make them ineffective. The book recommends some policy initiatives that can be adopted as a way forward for sustainability of the environmental resources in the country.
